That’s all for now! I would have taken many more pics but I misplaced my camera somewhere in Cactus’ dad’s house, so I had to borrow theirs. We’re currently working on getting another show booked in Oakland at a club we heard about last night, and of course after that we’re off to Long Beach for our two biggest shows.

Big props to Chero for helping us out with the venues and being on the exact same wavelength as everyone else. We look forward to meeting her and the rest of the LBC crew!

Welcome to California

Greetings from California!

So far our trip has been mostly flawless. There’s been a few bumps along the way, such as losing DJ Big G and GoldenChild’s group. There were unfounded concerns and doubts about us getting to California as a group, and a lot of people bailed out on us. Big G had to fly home from Detroit to take care of his mother, and unfortunately won’t be joining us for the rest of the tour. GoldenChild was told by his manager that we would be meeting up with us in California, but has since found out that won’t be happening.

What does this mean for One Fry Short and the remaining ALL SMOKED OUT crew? Absolutely nothing. We’re still here, we’re still planning on finishing up all of our shows. Failure and giving up isn’t an option for any of us. We’re in it for the long haul until we finish or break ourselves trying, and as it stands now we’re on the path for nothing but success.

I’m currently in the back of DJ Cactus’ Dodge Durango, riding along with Cactus himself, Wordsmith and his two partners Kontact and SoL. Just the five of us are left out of an original crew of nine. And out of that five, none of us have had a single problem since the group broke. We’ve been stuck in this truck for two days straight with not a shower between us, and not even a raised voice has permeated the vehicle. Nothing but laughs and smiles and lots and lots of amazing pictures.

I hope to have a little time over the next few days to see San Francisco, and I am also looking forward to seeing Long Beach, and then of course NYC at the very end of the tour.

On our way to Cali, we’ve only encountered a few bad weather patches. So far mother nature has been very kind and it seems like good weather is traveling with us. For this time of the year, most of the locations we’ve been through are usually covered with three or four feet of snow, and so far it hasn’t even been more than a few inches in the WORST spot.

Back when we entered Wisconsin, we hit a snag when an incredibly strong gust of wind came across the pass and made us spin out on the road, resulting in a small dent on the side of DJ Cactus’ Durango from the Uhaul trailer we’re hauing behind us. From what could have happened (car flips, us going off a cliff, etc), it was fairly minor. About mile down the road iafter the spinout we blew a tire, but we had a full spare to replace it with and since then we’ve encountered not a single problem on the road.

The roads in Utah were a little hectic going through Salt Lake City, but that was just due to the fact that we were driving through the Rocky Mountains on a pretty steep incline and decline. No sweat though and now we’re 75 miles from Cali, and bout 2 hours from our destination.

On our way out of Utah, we passed by one of the most breathtaking natural landmarks i’ve ever had the pleasure to view with my own eyes: The Bonneville Salt Flats. This stretch of land goes as far as the eyes can see. The water is actually very shallow, it just appears to be much deeper due to the layer of natural salt beneath and the reflection of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. We took a crapload of really amazing pictures and were fortunate enough to see the sun set over the mountains in the distance.

We’re all looking forward to a hot shower, a nice warm bed where we can stretch our legs, and a good crowd at our next venue. We’ve all got a great feeling about California as far as the venues and crowds go, so we’re staying on that postive note. Fate has brought us this far; I think she’ll take us all the way to the end. Our next show is in Fremont, CA at the King’s Inn on Wednesday, and after that we head to Long Beach for two shows down there.

I will now leave you with a few pictures we’ve taken on the road. As always, you can view many more in the Daily Haggis Photo Gallery, and even more in the One Fry Short Photo Gallery.

Going Back to Cali

We’re heading back on the road again, this time on a 3 1/2 day car trip to California. As DJ Cactus said, “this will make a bitch out of men,” so i’m preparing myself for the worst in advance. I’ll be content with my laptop and Nintendo emulators, plus the 100+ movies I brought with me, but I can’t say the same for everyone else. I just hope everyone makes it there in one peice.

I’m looking forward to the seeing the Rocky Mountains, and especially seeing Cali. If I happen to find an internet connection over the next three days, i’ll try to post something more, but chances are you won’t hear from me again until I’m in San Francisco.

See you then!

B-More Represent!

Greetings from Balitmore, Maryland!

The ALL SMOKED OUT Tour is officially underway as of Friday, December 30, 2005. The show at ToC Bar was a moderate success, and the Papa’s Icehouse show was more fun for the artists than the crowd, but fair enough. We were scheduled to play at Hallabaloo’s on New Years Day, but due to a INCREDIBLY weak turnout, we packed up and hit the road instead.

We left Houston at 1am on Sunday, and arrived here in Maryland today around 7am. During the entire trip, I somehow managed to have an incredibly horrendous allergy attack that rendered me completely useless until just a few hours ago when I finally got more than just a few hours sleep. I imagine that probably has a little to do with it as well. I just hate being sick. :P

Our Fredricksburg, VA show is tonight at The Bourbon Room. It’s more of a showcase of a bunch of artists and not so much Tour-centric, but it’s still another performance for our artists. Tomorrow we’re taking a break from the road and going to visit Washington DC since it’s only about an hour away from here. I’m so used to the massive size of Texas that it’s strange to be able to cross two states in the manner of a couple hours.

I’m looking forward to seeing the capitol and a few of the other landmarks around D.C., so that should be exciting. It’ll be nice to have a little down time before hitting the road once more.

Our next stop will be Detroit, MI for two shows at the Vision Club. GoldenChild’s father has been very generous and has reserved two hotel rooms for us, so we don’t have to worry about accomodations while we’re there. So far we’ve been pretty lucky not to have to get hotel rooms along the way due to several people having family or friends in the states we’re visiting.

I’m off to get ready for the show tonight. I’ll post something tomorrow with a few of my pics of D.C. and the show.

Stay tuned!

There and Back Again: The ALL SMOKED OUT Tour

I was spinnin' vinyl even at that age!

And so begins the strange and wonderful journey across the United States.

A little over a month ago, I was preparing to put on a little concert called ALL SMOKED OUT. I never thought for a second that it would turn from one show into a multi-city tour.

And here I sit preparing to go from one ocean to the other, and back again. ALL SMOKED OUT has turned from one show to an entire TOUR. Starting this Friday, December 30th, the tour begins.

Here’s the complete list of shows & tour dates:
December 30, 2005: ToC Bar, 711 Franklin Ave, Houston, TX 77002

January 1, 2006: Hallabaloo’s, 716 Houston Boulevard, Houston, TX 77587

January 13, 2006: Toons, 52 E. Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113
January 14, 2006: Club 49, 49 S Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802
January 15, 2006: The Hush, 217 Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802
January 20, 2006: Roseland Bar & Grill, 18401 W 8 Mile Road, Detroit, MI 48219
January 21, 2006: Roseland Bar & Grill, 18401 W 8 Mile Road, Detroit, MI 48219
January 27, 2006: 87 Ludlow, 87 Ludlow, New York City, NY 10001

Three shows in Houston, then I’m off to Virginia, then right back across the country to California, then back again to finish up in New York City. I am going to see so much of this nation that I’m going to run out of hard drive space filling it up with photos from my digital camera.

Stay tuned to this website to watch for future updates and posts while I’m on the road. Internet access is going to be limited unless I can find a coffee shop or hotel with WiFi access, but i’ll do my best.
