Red vs Blue: Episode 100 – The End of an Era

Red vs Blue The Blood Gulch Chronicles Episode 100

The end is here, and it’s damn funny.

The Austin based machinima creators Rooster Teeth released the final episode of Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles late last night. Culminating in 100 total episodes, plus several Public Service Announcements, the series has gone from a relatively unknown web series to a featured spotlight on Microsoft’s XBox Live service and the funny bastard children of Bungie, the creators of Halo.

I’ll save any spoilers for after the jump, and as soon as they release the embeddable version of the episode I’ll put it at the bottom of the article, but for now:

Click here to watch the series finale of Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles.

NOTE: There are actually THREE different endings to the episode, all available through the different links at the top. “Red vs. Blue” takes you to the first cut, “Episode” takes you to the second cut (and my personal favorite ending), and “100″ takes you to the third ending.

“I came here in a space ship that came from the moon. It crashed next to Blue base, and now I live with Caboose and the people from the tail section of the space ship that live on the other side of the island.” – Yellow Church

“What the fuck, that’s like wrong in eight different ways!” – Church

This was an incredible episode, from when Simmons was possessed and finally stood up to Sarge, to when it jumped to Church and he felt… well he didn’t really change much at all. Seeing inside of Caboose’s head once again was great, especially since he’s still “smart” in his imagination but everyone else is closer (or lower) to his IQ.

Also really glad to see the return of Barenaked Ladies‘ Ed Robertson as Captain Flowers–the original leader of the Blues–if only for that short.. period.. of… time. Dramatic pauses, ya gotta love em.

Near the very end of the second ending the screen displayed “Stay tuned for Red vs Blue 2″ on the viewscreen that Sarge was destroying, and at the very end when everyone shouted “New Map!” (it’s an XBOX Live joke) leading me to believe that there will be a second RvB series, probably using the Halo 3 engine.. and a new map, hehe.
