Interview With A Haggis

Jumping on the Bandwagon recently put up an offer to write interview questions for anyone that wanted them, and being the vain blogger I am I jumped at the chance. Be careful what you wish for..

1. If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead, real or fictional, who would you break bread with and what questions would you ask him/her?

There’s so many I could list, but instead I’m just going to pull the first random person out of my head: Mel Blanc. Mel Blanc was the voice of hundreds of cartoon characters from the original Looney Toones series, including (of course) Bugs, Daffy, Elmer Fudd, and Yosemite Sam. I imagine having lunch with someone like that would be rather entertaining. Second place in the same vein would be Billy West who voices Fry on Futurama, and Ren & Stimpy, as well as a host of others. He’s sort of our generation’s Mel Blanc.

2. What are your top 5 favorite movies or TV shows of all time?

TV Shows:

1. Star Trek (the original)
2. Monty Python’s Flying Circus
3. Arrested Development (killed long before its time. Damn you Fox.)
4. Melrose Place (shut up, this show was the shiznit and I’m not the only one who thinks so.)
5. Seinfeld

Movies:

1. The Princess Bride
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. The Goonies
4. Pulp Fiction
5. Donnie Darko

3. Which city do you like living in better, San Antonio or Houston and why?

Well, I’ve lived in Houston for most of my life, so the love I feel for that city will never go away. However I have to say I’m enjoying San Antonio a bit more, simply because it’s a much smaller city. Houston is so damn big it’s a pain to even go from one side of the city to the other, while here it’s less than a 30 minute trip. The weather here is also nicer too–not so much rain.

4. What is your favorite childhood memory?

Playing “Charlie Brown” with my grandfather. The game consisted of him holding a basketball (I never played football as a child), and me running and pretending to kick it as he pulled it away, just like Lucy did to Charlie Brown in the old Peanuts comic strip. Also Sunday morning pancakes.

5. Looking back on your life thus far, if you had the chance, would you go back and do anything differently?

I’m not a big fan of regret in my life, and I tend to look at everything as just another learning experience. Everything that has happened in my life, be it good or terrible, has made me into the man I am today. I may have held regrets in the past, but as I’m approaching my 30th year on this Earth I’m starting to see things in new light, and those same regrets now are simply stepping stones to the life I have right now. Who know what’s in the cards for me next, but I can honestly say that I will regret none of it.
