This Week In Links for March 9, 2007:
Alec Guiness’ Jedi robes from the original Star Wars film have sold for $104,000 in a private auction to an anonymous phone bidder. God help them if he was freeballing underneath those robes. [Sci Fi Wire]
ALVIN!! Jason Lee has reportedly signed on to star as the human caretaker of three singing chipmunks in a live action adaptation of Alvin and The Chipmunks movie. Who ever thought an ex-professional skater and a guy who got his start stinkpalming and talking about superhero body parts would star as the lead role in a children’s film? [Cinematical]
Clash of the Trekkies: Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stand By Me) recounted part one of a hilarious story of when he met William Effing Shatner. What did he say about young Wesley Crusher on the bridge of the Enterprise? “Well, I’d never let a kid come onto my bridge.” [WilWheatonDotNet]
Holmes Out, Gyllenhaal in. I couldn’t be more pleased. Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary) has replaced Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes in the sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight. Several rumors surround why Holmes dropped out of the pic, but none of it matters because she sucked in the film anyway. Gyllenhaal is a welcome replacement. [Variety]
MTV is running out of ideas… Oh wait, that happened ten years ago. Regardless, they’ve just announced a new reality series to cast members of the original cheesy boy band group of the 80’s, Menudo. I still remember seeing the videos during my Saturday morning cartoons. [Yahoo! News]
And just because I love the series so much, here’s the link to the newest episode (Episode 91) of my favorite Web series, Rooster Teeth’s Red vs. Blue. The series is in its fifth season and still growing strong. [Red vs Blue]
That’s it for this week!
