The Punisher Does Maine

Before we dive in, big thanks to Haggis for the great welcome. Maybe I can add a little dignity to the proceedings. Hehehe. Moving on then…
In “Freaky creatures come out of a strange fog and kill us all” news, Frank Darabont is helming an adaptation of The Mist, a short story from one of Stephen King’s early collections, Skeleton Crew. The Mist tracks the story of artist David Drayton who, after a freak storm, is trapped with his young son and neighbors in the local grocery store by a monster-riddled fog. Hopefully Darabont’s successes in adapting King’s work (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) will continue, but The Punisher as distressed dad Drayton?
William Sadler as the asshole neighbor? Great. Marcia Gay Harden as the whacked out old lady who tries to sacrifice a little boy to bugs? Fan-freakin-tastic. The Punisher as a concerned, mostly sensitive artist, separated from his wife and caring for his only son while attempting to lead a group of trapped shoppers to safety? Really???
I’ve been waiting for this since I was 12. I should’ve expected a miscast of gargantuan proportions. At least I’ll have some gigantic tentacle monsters.
