Haggis On Ice

I’ve been trapped at home for the past three days because of the horrendous cold front that blew through the south. To anyone north of the Mason Dixon line, 30 degree temperatures with icy roads are nothing new. In Texas, everyone loses their minds and nobody goes to work.

Just an example: The local CBS affiliate KENS5 has been running 8 hour nonstop coverage in the morning including fascinating footage of a guy on foot sliding down a parking garage “surf” style. They showed it about four times. Not kidding.

Austin has received snow, and Dallas has been destroyed by now I believe.

Everyone keep warm!

Glad to hear you’re OK. We’re staying warm and dry down here. Aside from the 25 car pile up on I45, things in Houston haven’t been too bad. ;-) That footage of the guy ice surfing on the parking garage was shown here too, but only once. I’d be stunned if the footage isn’t on YouTube by now. PS: Uh could you do somethng about the Name, e-mail, website fields. It’s black on black and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t see if I typo’d.

Doh, thanks for letting me know. The comment entry on my end already has me logged in so I don’t have to type in those fields. I’ll take care of it. :D

Finally back at work today since the temperature finally crept over 32 degrees. It was hard getting out of that nice warm bed.

I made the dumb, dumb decision to come into work on Monday–the roads were horrible, I slipped and slid all the way to the train station, and when I got here, NOBODY was in the office. I learned too late that the inclement weather policy is “be safe,” so I was one of about ten people in the office all day.

Yesterday, when it ended up just as bad, I worked from home. It was great–spent the entire day in my PJs. Now I hear that tomorrow’s going to be snowy too. What’s up with that???

Craziness, I tell ya!
