Lost: I Do

Tonight’s episode of LOST is the mini-season finale which then breaks for 13 weeks, due to come back in February with a non-stop run until the true season finale during May sweeps.
The episode is Kate-centric, supposedly dealing with her (failed) marriage. Also on the plate is Henry/Ben’s surgery and whether or not Jack will help (or let him die as Juliet suggested via flash cards last week), Kate and Sawyer’s hook-up, and hopefully a small mention of what the hell happened to Sayid, Jin, and Sun after the boat was stolen.
I’ll post a recap tonight after the episode.
Bwwweeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrr….
(That’s supposed to be the funky noise they play over the title credits. Phonetic sounds don’t translate well to type)
Spoilers after this point!
So Kate was once named Monica, and she married That Guy From Firefly. He buys tickets to Central America, where she can’t go–leaving the country while being a fugitive and all–so she decides to fix the problem by drugging him and R-U-N-N-O-F-T.
Kate and Sawyer do the down and dirty, Sawyer has a schmoopy moment and actually shows a human side, and Buck Likes To Fuck from Kill Bill wants to shoot him in the head.
As far as big (mini)season finales go, this one didn’t have as nearly shocking moments as I expected. I was curious when Jack went all creepy after seeing Kate and Sawyer post-coitus and agreed to the surgery, but in actuality I think Jack made up his mind to let her go and sacrifice himself instead.
Jack’s a crafty one. After Juliet stares him down for several minutes, Jack makes his move and cuts an incision in Ben’s kidney, giving him about an hour to live.
The cliffhanger had me shouting at the TV as usual, but overall I was a little unsatisfied at the end of the episode. Like I mentioned earlier, I just expected a bigger payoff than “You got about an hour head start. I’M GOING TO YELL REAL LOUD NOW!”
I’m assuming that they’ll make a break for the dock and steal back Desmond’s boat, otherwise there’s not much of a chance of them ever making it back with the whole Alcatraz thing going on. I guess we won’t know much of anything for 13 weeks.
Until then I guess I have Groundhog Day Day Break.
