Save the Cheerleader, Save The Network

One of my newest TV obsessions is NBC’s newest drama, Heroes, features a large cast of characters discovering they have abilities and powers beyond those of everyday citizens.

The show comes as a breath of fresh air to the once-reigning king of primetime TV. The latest batch of sitcoms and dramas has fallen flat on many of the networks, including NBC’s offerings. 30 Rock is funny at times, Studio 60 is interesting but needs work, and “30 good years” is just plain stupid.

Heroes, however, stands on its own as the network’s new breakout hit, and I’m one of the many millions who have been tuning in for the past six weeks to the adventures of Claire, Nathan, Niki, and especially Hiro (the time-stopping teleporting Star Trek fan.)

Last week’s episode revealed that the hottie next-door neighbor to Suresh was actually working for the “bad-guy” (I knew it), and that Hiro and friend are on their way to New York City to meet up with the Artist and the Leech.

Also to note: Sweeps is upon us. If you haven’t been watching new episodes of any of your favorites, the next two weeks is the perfect time to tune in. Expect major guest starts, big revelations, ridiculous plot lines, and anything else that the network suits have pulled out of their bag of magic ratings tricks.
