Happy Birthday, Here’s a Paycheck

I got a special gift this year for my 29th birthday: Employment. I recently landed a job with a graphic design company here in San Antonio with a great salary and benefits to match. My first day is today, August 1st, my birthday.

It was after many long and very difficult months that I have finally found my niche in the working world again. I have gone through debt and an entire city move to put me where I needed to be at the exact right time. It certainly seems like it was meant to be.

I’ll be working on an upcoming magazine for the city and quite a few websites for various clients within the company, so it’s pretty much right up my alley. Most of the work on their website matches much of the work I have done in the past, so my comfort level in my talents is extremely high right now.

Now I start the long and laborious task of digging myself back out of debt and becoming a valuable member of society again, heh. In a few months I’ll be able to get my car completely repaired so I’ll have wheels again, and after that it’s just the rest of my life.

My goals for this year:

  • Repair VW. Highest priority.
  • Get out of debt. This may take a while unless I really buckle down.
  • Find a girlfriend. This is pretty damn high priority too, but this is pretty much a constant need. The need to repair the car and get out of debt precedes this one for a reason. :D
  • Start saving for a house. Maybe I can actually keep a savings account open. Maybe.
  • Visit Houston more often. Having the car repaired will help this a lot. I do miss everyone there.
  • I’m off to bed now, already knowing that I won’t sleep from the excitement of tomorrow morning. Even if I only sleep a few hours tonight, I’ll still be wide awake and hyper come 8am. Wish me luck!
