Daily Haggis v6

I just can’t stay with a template for longer than six months it seems. I really liked my old template, but I could never get around to finishing all the sub-pages and excess bugs that came with it.

I came across the new WordPress Theme Viewer, and immediately fell in love with one of the themes provided: Wonderwall by Alvin Woon. The theme wasn’t exactly how I wanted it, but it came with a few new plugins and some enhanced content delivery that I just couldn’t pass up.

Six hours later the new template is up and running with several new features:

  • Article images! - Each article has the ability to have it’s own display image, which will usually coincide with whatever is being discussed in the article. If it’s a video from YouTube, you might see the YouTube logo. If it’s an article about a new piece of Microsoft software (like Vista), then you’ll see the Bill Gates borg. Nifty tool.
  • Gimme More! - At the bottom of every page you will see a button marked “Gimme More”. Pressing this button will expand the lower half of the website, automatically hidden from view. This is where all the little widgets and info bars that were peppered throughout the last version are now being stored. Recent articles, recent comments, recently listened to music tracks, and other blog links are all now located here, along with the website info.
  • New Sections: About, Archives, and Contact - The “About” page has been heavily modified and brought up to date, the “Archives” page where you can look at a list of recent articles by category, most commented articles, and recent comments, and the “Contact” page, where you can find several methods of getting in contact with me.

I’m still tweaking the graphics here and there, and a few bugs in the Archive pages (FULLY OPERATIONAL!), but otherwise this site should now be fully operational and searchable again.
