Hey Jambi, What’s the Secret Word?

Yes boys and girls, the ultimate in weird children’s programming is coming back to the tube, courtesy of [Adult Swim], according to this article in Yahoo!.

[adult swim] has made some pretty weird decisions in their programming as of lately, starting with airing two weeks of “Saved by the Bell”, and moving the one-season of the Will Ferrell cartoon “The Oblongs” in their best ratings slot of the night.

The “Saved by the Bell” fiasco almost cost them a lot of viewers. On the [as] website forums, a record number of users registered for accounts just to complain about the show BEING on the network, let alone how ridiculously campy the show was and how it didn’t fit with the rest of the [as] programming.

The main complaint of most people is “Why are they showing live action shows on the CARTOON NETWORK?” Here’s why: [adult swim] is NOT the Cartoon Network. Yes, it occupies the same channel on the lineup as CN, but as of 2004, [as] is now monitored seperately from CN for its ratings. That means when you see the [adult swim] logo appear on the screen at 9:30pm Saturday-Thursday (and 9pm on Sunday), it means the network you are viewing is no longer Cartoon Network. Therefore by all accounts they don’t even have to show Cartoons if they didn’t want to.

Despite all of this, I’ll tune in to see the old Pee-Wee’s playhouse episodes. If nothing else just to laugh at Lawrence Fishburn in his first acting role: Cowboy Curtis. Oh, and don’t forget about Natasha Lyonne before she became a crackhead, heh.

Oh, and the secret word is: Nostalgia.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!

    • omg--that's like the best SBTB episode ever!! In a craptastic way, you know.....

      "I'm so excited! I'm so--so-so SCARED!"

My sister used to watch that damn show 4 times a day back when she was in high school--it came on for about 2 hours on TBS.
    • Yup.. They did indeed play SBTB for two weeks straight.. one of the few times i've ever turned my channel away from [as] at that time of night.

The only episode I actually watched was played on 4/20. It was the most unintentionally funny episode they ever did: the "Pilled-Up Jessie Spano" episode where she gets all wonky on caffeine pills.

I'm pretty excited about "Pee-Wee's Playhouse." I loved that show when I was a kid! Did you know that it won 22 Emmys during its run on the air? I learned that watching Headline News while I was at jury duty yesterday.

So they really did play "Saved by the Bell?" We thought they were just kidding! We never looked to see if it was true b/c we only watch [as] on the weekends.

Although I was pretty stoked one night when I got up b/c I couldn't sleep and "Cowboy Bebop" was on. What a great show!
