See You On The Other Side

Windows Vista (February CTP Release)

Either I’m a pure techno-geek, or a glutton for punishment, but tonight I have elected to install the brand new Microsoft Windows Vista February CTP. “What the hell is a Microsoft Windows Vista February CTP,” you may ask? The short answer is: a yet unreleased version of the upgrade to Windows XP. A beta Operating System.

The first official beta was released mid-last year, and from some of the reviews i’ve read has come a long way from the crashing, buggy, featureless update to the now 4 year old WindowsXP. For one, they’ve included the new graphic scheme called “Aero” which will finally bring the Windows desktop up to the standards that Mac OS X has had for years. Another is most XP drivers and software will function properly, if not well, on Vista now.

I’m excited about installing it. I’m currently backing up all my data and prepping my computer for a new OS. Just in case everything fails, I can always just restore XP and i’m back to normal. It’ll at least keep me occupied on a new project over the next few days. I always get giddy when I get new software.

Did I mention i’m a huge nerd? Just checking.

Good Luck. I was just about to e-mail you. If I don’t hear anything in a few days I’ll send someone to pick up the pixels. ;-) Go toward the light….
