What a waste..
I have this awesome-looking new website, and I can’t think of a single thing to write about.
Sure, i’ve had a few projects going on lately. Such as “The Big Ball, featuring Paul Wall” which turned out to be something of a bust due to a no-show by the main act. We DJ’ed the HELL out of the VIP room, but once the show began we were pretty much done. We got a lot of compliments and business contacts out of the deal.
I’ve been working more on Wordsmith’s website, as well as his EPK to gear up for the summer tour. We plan to do it all over again, only with a little more time to work on it and a lot more experience under our belt. This one is looking like a 1-2 month tour this time. It really all depends on how many venues we can get booked between now and July.
Other than that, i’ve been pretty much bored out of my mind lately. Without ongoing projects to keep me occupied, I get distracted and restless. To that end, i’ve been playing a lot of World of Warcraft and Star Wars: Empire at War (awesome game, by the way.)
What I REALLY need is some steady pay for a little while. I’ve scraped by on what i’ve had for the past few months, but the bank account is starting to look a little thin. I’ve got a few leads on some part-time work, and possibly some temp service work. I certainly don’t want to make the same mistake I made last time and commit myself to a full-time career position, because I won’t take it seriously. I’m still all about running this company, and I need something that will allow me to do that primarily, but still make a steady paycheck from week to week.
When I do get paid for DJ stuff or design work it’s usually a good size sum of $$, but like most contractors, it’s the gap in jobs that hurt. No one ever said self-employment was easy..
