All Worked Out (Day 4)
Sorry about the gap in postings there.. I know I said I would try to post Day 4 on Day 5, but as you will see way too much was happening to spare even five minutes to post, unfortunately.
I had to work at my full-time job most of the day on Thursday, but as soon as 5pm hit I was out the door. We had received word that one of our artists was having trouble getting the money together for the hotel room, a detail that should have been taken care of WEEKS in advance, not the night before they are due to fly all the way down here. Big G and I decided that professionally, it was not our problem. We had done everything on our part including draft contracts for the three out of state artists coming in and only this one artist was having problems getting things rolling.
I had some sympathy for him, of course, because his brother had been shot in a drive-by and he was having to come alone, but still waiting until the last minute is not something excusable. All worked out well, however, and we were back to concentrating on more important things like rehearsals.
At 8pm we had another rehearsal down at ToC with the artist from Los Angeles, Motion. He brought along his whole crew including a bunch of really cool people I was lucky to meet: Knotch, Aries, and Ace, as well as his marketing crew headed by Daniel. Everyone was ultra-professional and very nice, and rehearsals went very well.
We went back to the hotel (the Hyatt-Regency) and relaxed for a little bit, and then we decided to take our LA buddies on a little tour of Downtown. Nothing fancy like a full-blown tour, but we did point out HPD, the City Hall, and a few other landmarks here and there. We had a wonderful dinner at Cabo’s who’s food has yet to disappoint me, and they were impressed to no end. Apparantly a plate of food in Los Angeles costs $300, because a $12 plate to them was pocket change.
We spent the whole dinner comparing notes on LA and Houston, and overall they really liked our little Metropolis. We finished the night by showing them main street where a few of them took off to visit the clubs. We wanted to join them, but we were already exhausted and really concerned about getting a good nights sleep before the big show on Friday.
I headed home for the night and finished up a few projects I needed completed before the next day. I had to get up fairly early (Noon is early for me, ok?) and get a few things at Wal-Mart like bottled water and an ice chest, plus I had to pick up the guy from Canada at Intercontinental at 11:30am.
I’m currently waiting on getting my digital camera back before I make the final post, Day 5. For those of you waiting to hear how it went will just have to wait until later or tomorrow, but i’ll sum it all up in one word for now: AMAZING.
No, two words: FUCKING AMAZING.
More later! ![]()
