I <3 Key Lime or I Cast Magic Missile!

What a week i’ve had!

My friends from San Antonio, Xian and Rara, have been in town since last Sunday and we’ve been having a good time enjoying each other’s company. The night they came into town I subjected them to Robot Chicken episodes which they thorougly enjoyed. Not surprising being Xian is the one who introduced me to The Upright Citizen’s Brigade. When both Xian and I lived in Houston (I live in a small town north of Houston now), we used to frequent a little restaurant called House of Pies. There are actually two in Houston, each famous for it’s own reasons. The one on Westheimer is where the former Compaq Computer Corporation was founded, and the other is on Kirby inside the 610-loop. The Kirby location isn’t all that notoriously famous, but it’s famous to me because of how many memories i’ve left in there (or in the parking lot.) Plus it’s the best House of Pies since it’s the original location, and the Westheimer location is teh suXX0r.

Last Tuesday we decided to have dinner at our old stomping grounds just for nostalgia sake, and it was worth it. We sat in our old booth, drank several cups of their delicious coffee, and reminded ourselves on how good the food is. Follow this up with one of the best peices of Key Lime Pie ever (plus the French Silk Chocolate pie I left in their car that night), make up for a wonderful evening filled with anecdotes and stories of five years ago.

We even had fun trashing Xian’s ex-girlfriend, who was once a decent person and became a crazy shallow money obsessed coke-whore when she became a stripper. I made a great joke that night, which while i’ve re-told to several people, isn’t quite as funny as it was then:

We were discussing what would happen if she walked in and saw me, Xian, and his pretty new fiancee sitting at the same booth we used to sit at, and Rara says “Don’t worry, she’s probably on a pole somewhere,” to which I replied (trying not to burst into laughter before I spoke), “or she’s at the strip club.”

Thursday they came and supported me at Lucky Devil’s, which started out slow but got hoppin by 11pm or so. We even did a wet t-shirt contest that yours truly MC’ed. Everyone knows who the REAL winner was that night. :D

And to finish out a week of old memories and habits, Xian and Rara, myself, and blog lurker/friend Smokin played a game of 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons Saturday night. Took us two hours to get our characters created just to figure out a shortcut to the end of the quest in about 10 minutes. It’s been at least 2-3 years since I last played so I was rusty at first, especially during character creation, but it was just like riding a bike. It probably didn’t help we were all (except poor Smokin) tossing back the Shiner Bock’s like people dying of thirst in the desert. Actually made up for a more enjoyable D&D experience.

They’re here for the next two weeks so i’m sure i’ll have more stories to tell of SA Town’s finest tearing it up in H-Town. Maybe another trip to House of Pies is in order.. :D
