The Friday Five (new)

My favorite Weekly Meme returns in LJ format.

1. What is the first book you remember reading?
“Old Man In The Sea” by Ernest Hemingway. It was the book my mom taught me how to read on.

2. What is your favorite book?
Overall, probably The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. I can turn to any page and just start reading, and that’s counting the whole series.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Currently, Stephen King. It’s been a while since I’ve found an author that can excite me and keep my attention for over 400 pages.

4. Pick up the nearest book (magazine or any available printed material will do). Turn to page 24 (or the closest to it). Go to the 7th line. What is it?
“Inside, two men who appeared not only unconsious but transparent rolled lazily with the car’s motion like corpses in sunken boat” - The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower, by Stephen King.

5. If you could be any character in literature, who would you be?
Probably Gandalf, just cuz he’s got connections and powers, but I also wouldn’t mind being Zaphod Beeblebrox. He’s just this guy, ya know?

So, I picked up the nearest book and here is the 7th line, on the 24th page, I kid you not. “I don’t want to put my face up there! She’ll tear my eyes out and I’ll be blind!” - Wild Life by Molly Gloss. Laugh riot. That one line out of context, anyway.
