Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It’s Off To Work I Go
Trying to start 2005 off right, I have a job interview in the morning. It’s for a position at a large corporation in their IT Services department, doing helpdesk and technical support stuff. I’ve been informed i’ll be the “Gopher” for a while until I learn the ropes, but I’m usually that way when I first start working for a new company anyway. “Yes sir, right away sir, certainly sir.”
Luckily I don’t have to sweat the interview as much as a normal job interview, mostly because a close friend of mine is not only offering me the job, but is going to be my boss. Doesn’t mean I get to work any less than usual, it just means I won’t be as nervous as I would be in any other job setting.
Not that I’m really worried anyway. Usually when I get to the portion of the job placement where i’m sitting down and interviewing with someone, I always ace it. I’ve got very good interview skills and had to sit through a whole college course on interviews and proper resume skills. I’ve got this crap down pat.
It does mean I have to actually get up before noon starting tomorrow, which isn’t neccesarily a bad thing. I’ve been staying up until about 3am and sleeping until about 12:30-1pm for the past three months, and while I have really enjoyed my vacation time, it’ll be nice to have regular hours and a steady paycheck again. Not to mention all the great benefits that come with the position, but more on that later when i’ve actually been hired.
Wish me luck! ![]()
