Viacom vs DISH Network

As some of you may know, and some of you DISH Network customers definitely know, Viacom is raising their rates for all of their stations to be carried on various satellite companies. The dispute has been carried over from the boardroom to the everyday viewer now:

From DISH Networks website:
DISH Network sincerely regrets that all MTV, BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and VH1 programming is currently unavailable. Viacom owned CBS stations are also unavailable at this time.

These channels and CBS stations, owned by Viacom, have proposed excessive rate increases which we feel are unreasonable. Viacom is demanding rate increases nearly 4 times the rate of inflation for various cable channels, amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars in fees that would increase the cost of our services to you.

DISH Network continually strives to control costs on behalf of our customers and we are working hard to get this matter resolved quickly. Tell us what you think by writing us at:

So because DISH can’t play nice with Viacom, we as the consumers are paying for it. What is the point behind having a $40 cable bill with over 300 stations if the six I DO watch aren’t even available?

If you are a DISH Network customer please send an email to the CEO and contact Viacom. The more support that is shown for the missing networks the quicker we will get them back, or so we’ve been told.
