Gary Oldman Joins “Batman Begins”
Oldman joins the force for new ‘Batman’
Gary Oldman is set to star opposite Christian Bale in Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Batman Begins.” Christopher Nolan is directing the film, which is being produced by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Larry Franco. Oldman will play Lt. James Gordon, a detective on the Gotham police force. The actor joins Bale, cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman; Michael Caine as Wayne’s trusted butler, Alfred; Katie Holmes as a childhood friend of Wayne’s; Liam Neeson as Wayne’s mentor Henri Ducard; and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, a former board member and sidelined employee of Wayne Enterprises. The movie has begun production in Iceland and also will shoot in London and Chicago. Ben Melniker and Michael Uslan are executive producing. The screenplay was written by David Goyer and Nolan. The CAA-repped Oldman next stars in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”
