Sony postpones PSP launch
SONY Computer Entertainment announced it was postponing until after March 2005 the worldwide launch of its portable PSP console, which is intended to rival Nintendo’s Gameboy.
Sony had said in May 2003 that the launch of PSP would take place in time for Christmas sales in 2004.
“We have been informed that the launch will not take place before the end of fiscal year 2004-2005, that is in March 2005,” said Richard Brunois, communications director for Sony Computer Entertainment France.
Sony’s video game unit, which markets the popular PlayStation, represents nearly half the group’s operating profit and 16 per cent of sales.
