    The New Tom Green Show: Cancelled

    TOM GREEN SHOW CANNED

    September 23, 2003 — ‘THE New Tom Green Show” has ceased production, ending MTV’s experiment with a nightly, late-night talk show.

    Green and executive producer Burt Dubrow were informed late last week that MTV had decided to pull the plug.

    MTV confirmed the decision yesterday, based on declining ratings.

    “The New Tom Green Show” premiered to critical acclaim on June 23 and drew an average 889,000 viewers nightly at midnight on MTV in its first weeks, according to Nielsen figures.

    But ratings dropped in July (774,000 viewers), August (580,000 viewers) and September (355,000).

    Green will likely seek to place the show elsewhere.

    Options include cable and broadcast channels as well as syndication, Dubrow said.

    Green was unavailable for comment.

      I loved the Tom Green Show and loved The New Tom Green Show even more. MTV used to be cool...now all they do is play their stupid rap music videos from sun up till sun down.       I knew it, just when I am truly comfortable with a show and really like it I get screwed and they take it away. I should have hated it and it would have been kept for years. What luck. I think they new Tom was taking over the mentality of MTV and becoming the Johnny Carson of the network and they couldn't stand the fact he would be so powerful. Maybe it was a personality clash. I remember it was muggy and sticky in the production area of the show and MTV locked up the thermostat so they would control the cooling to save money. So Tom cracked it with a bat and turned the thing up some where it should have been. It was that kind of control MTV feared. I say MTV you are dopes in this case. I do like your Sunday nights with Wild Boys and all but you made a big mistake here. You will be sorry. Real sorry. E will pick it up or another network on cable and it will be the linchpin to high ratings. Lick thoughs apples crack heads!

      I watched the tom green show every night also... it was my favorit show. every one i know watched it every monday-friday. i dont think it was cancled cuz of ratings i think it was some other reason.

      I have to disagree about the whole rap video thing. I also dont like rap along with a lot of you guys, but the thing about MTV is they dont play music at all. I dont understand this really because doesnt MTV Music Television? And the shows they play on there are terrible ( Pimp My Ride, Room Raiders) even Spring Break was Horrible this year, they filmed like 5 shows at spring break and replayed them like 25 times. MTV is getting to be the worst network on television. They have got rid of some of the best shows like The New Tom Green Show and Jackass. MTV does suck, but theyre not all about rap as you guys say, theyre about shitty ass shows.
